Expert Answers about Chevrolet Radiator Fans

  • Radiator Cooling Fan Fuse/Relay Location on a 2011 Ford F-150
  • There are typically two cooling fans attached to a radiator, the high speed fan and the low speed fan. I looked in the owner's manual for your 2011 Ford F-150 and its does not specify which fuse is for which fan so you will just need to check all of the ones that relate to the electric fan circuit which I have listed for you below. The fuse will be more or less apparent if blown but the relay will be more difficult to check. If you switch the suspected faulty relay out for one that you...

  • Powered Fans to Correct Cooling Issue with 427 Big Block in 1966 Chevrolet Chevelle SS
  • For the sake of your really outstanding vehicle I want to suggest that first you investigate whether there is any issue with your coolant/water pump that could be causing the engine to run hot. A dual-fan set up with aluminum radiator should do a pretty good job of cooling even a big block 427. We can certainly help you with new cooling fans but if there is some other underlying issue involved that would best be squared away first. If there is an internal cooling problem then new supplementary...

  • Troubleshooting Radiator Fan With 12V Battery Where Wires Get Very Hot
  • The wires may not be the correct gauge. They should not have been hot with 12V power. The motor may be drawing too much power as well. If the motor isn't overheating, than replacing the wires should solve the problem. You can use # 16-1-1 or # 12-1-1 depending on the amperage needs of your motor and the length of wire needed. Longer distances requires thicker gauge wire for proper amperage.

  • Derale 32" High-Output, Electric Radiator Fan # D16934 Slows Idle on 2001 Chevy Express Van
  • The sudden draw of 50 amps when fan # D16934 turns on will cause that momentary decline that you are experiencing. The higher the RPMs of the motor the less it will affect anything. You can certainly go to a higher capacity alternator but it is not 100 percent necessary provided the draw of the fan is not overdrawing the electrical system.

  • Vehicle Battery Draining After Installation of Derale Dual High-Output Radiator Fan # D16927
  • The 85-amp alternator in your vehicle will deliver its full current output only at highway speeds when RPMs are high. In typical around-town driving it will deliver only a fraction of its rated current and only about 40 amps at idle. If you have other current-hungry electronics in your vehicle, for example a powerful audio amplifier and/or a CB radio system, then the combination of power draw from these items together with the Derale fan may be taxing your alternator. You certainly can...

  • Motor Trend is a very popular automobile magazine with millions of followers. The article further explains that such frequent failures caused a widespread class action lawsuit against General Motors (GM) for the transmission's poor performance. Said actions caused a mandatory settlement for all owners...
